As we celebrate July 4th, I would like to point out something I believe would be a great disappointment to Tri-Cities residents.

Reason Instead Of Bombs

I don’t know that Barack Obama is the right person to be president, but I do believe he’s right when he says it’s time for a change.

Roe Will Be A True Public Servant

I am proud to be a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, where I served as a sniper in Vietnam.

Russert Deserved Tribute

This letter is not a slam against George Carlin, the counterculture “pioneer,” who died at the age of 71.

An Honor To Serve

As I end my term of 24 years on the Abingdon Town Council, where I served as councilman and vice mayor, I would like to thank those who supported me over the years. It has been an honor to have served the community.

Piece Had a ‘Pro-Military Slant’

First of all, I’d like to make it perfectly clear – I have the utmost admiration and respect for our armed forces, both domestic and those in foreign deployment.

A Danger to Motorists

Dear editor, thank you for your recent telephone call concerning my efforts to locate a man who caused me to have an accident in January at Exit 3 on Interstate 81 South.

Clinton Voters Won’t Sit It Out

For all of the Obama people who are worrying that the Hillary Clinton supporters will not vote for Obama in November: Relax. Except for personalities and selfishness on the part of both candidates, there is not 10 cents worth of difference in them.

When we drive away from a service station, discovering we have paid as much as $70 for a tank of gas, it is not surprising that we could mutter, how come?

Offshore Drilling Is No Answer; New Energy Is

This is in response to Connie Counts of Coeburn [“Drill and ignore the EPA,” June 20], who foolishly believes that offshore drilling is the panacea to our economic woes.

Russert Was an Honorable Man

I am saddened by the sudden, untimely death of NBC’s Tim Russert. How deeply mourned he seems to be, how dearly loved. In this day of rampant greed, selfishness, dishonesty and ingratitude, people still recognize what virtue is, and, even when they don’t strive to practice virtue, they still admire it.

Abolish Federal Reserve

I was totally stricken with frustration to learn that the current administration in the White House has given the Federal Reserve complete autonomy over our economy.
